Carson Tahoe Expressions Memory Care, a new Prestige memory care center opening soon in Carson City, Nev., invites the community to a free informational seminar designed to share evidence based, holistic approaches to avoiding memory loss on Friday, Dec. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.
The seminar will be led by Robert Winningham, Ph.D., professor of psychology and gerontology at Western Oregon University, who will share the latest research on the effects of physical exercise, nutrition, and social support on the likelihood of developing memory problems.
Dr. Winningham is a nationally recognized expert on memory loss and brain health and the author of Train Your Brain: How to Maximize Memory Ability in Older Adulthood. He also served as a contributor to the Cranium Crunches Workbook, which offers cognitive stimulation resources and activities designed to help maximize memory ability.
During the seminar, he will discuss recent research on memory and aging, including mounting evidence that suggests lifestyle factors, including staying mentally and physically active, can help delay memory problems. Refreshments will be provided, and Dr. Winningham will be available to sign copies of his book following the presentation.
